Artist Statement
I enjoy capturing movement and color in my work. I am attempting to paint my watercolors in one courageous session in order to have fresh fluid works.  In a world more and more influenced by Artificial Intelligence, the beauty is in the imperfections. Watercolor is a fun ride.
When painting in oil, I love mark making with the luscious paint. My goal is still to have compositions filled with lots of movement and rich color. I am a story teller by nature and want every painting to invite the viewer in and share an experience or moment with them.
Whether being rewarded with a painting that capture a stunning moment, or I am beating off bugs and powering through to a conclusion, I enjoy painting in plein air. Each moment in God’s creation is a gift, and I hope to share those moments with others.

About the Artist

Holly Weisel spent most of her early career working with horses and guiding tourists through some of the word’s most beautiful landscapes. Being a wrangler in the backcountry of Australia, Bryce Canyon UT , the Grand Canyon, and many other places has influenced her love of the wild.  She credits the hours she has spent quietly observing nature for her ability to capture the nuances of an animals movement or the beauty of a passing storm. Holly’s goal is to keep the cowgirl spirit alive as she paints the wild things of life.
She likes to paint like she rides, fast and free, creating works that are painted loosely in an impressionist style.
Holly enjoys painting in Plein Air events. The most recent event was the Crested Butte Invitational Plein Air Festival in Colorado. She has been fortunate to be able to study with several master artist such as Calvin Liang, Ned Mueller, Margret Dreyer, Alvaro Castagnet , and Eric Wiegardt, through the Scottsdale Artist School.
